PHILOSOPHY

Lee Bilberry, founder of Golf Course Builders International, Inc., likes to introduce himself as just a “tractor driver”. But in reality, he is a member of an exclusive fraternity - golf course shapers. They draw on their knowledge of construction, engineering, artistry, agronomy, and golf to blend sand, water, fairways, greens and features into combinations pleasing to the senses and thrilling for the game.

The company has been built around Lee’s personal commitment to “hands-on” involvement in the construction of each course. G.C.B.I. is a company of golf course craftsmen that specialize solely in the building of golf courses. The company’s project superintendents have been trained internally. Working their way through the ranks; from operating dump trucks, to tractors, to large dozers, to trackhoes, and onto the smaller dozers, fondly referred to as the shaper’s paint brushes. These golf course builders are both artists and athletes. Rembrandts on dozers and aspiring Nicklauses on the links, they
combine these diverse skills to help architects convert their golf course visions into reality.

Golf Course Builders International, Inc. not only has the technical skills to build a quality golf course, but also the artistic skills required by this specialized service. The company concentrates on preserving the strategy of the game while emphasizing the aesthetic appeal of the course.
