Lee made his mark in golf history by creating the birth place of the Senior PGA Tour, Onion Creek in Austin, Texas with Jimmy Demaret. |
Lee Bilberry began his golf course building career in 1956 working on the Sun City Golf Courses in Phoenix, Arizona. As a young man, he worked for the prolific golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones Senior. In the mid 60’s, he founded his own golf course building company. By the late 70’s and early 80’s he was building golf courses that ranked among the best in the nation. Cedar Ridge Country Club in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Picacho Hills Country Club in Las Cruses, New Mexico were rated #3 in their respective states. Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas was ranked #1 in the state of Arkansas by Golf Digest.
During the 80’s and 90’s, Lee Bilberry continued to work for some of the most renowned architects in the country. Golf Course Builders International, Inc. (G.C.B.I.) has built, remodeled, and shaped close to 100 golf courses.
While much has changed during Lee’s lengthy career, such as architectural styles and construction techniques, his commitment to quality has remained constant. Golf Course Builders International, Inc. has set records, received accolades, and developed both nationally and internationally recognized golf
courses.
